Junior PREMIER Academy

This age group of premier 10-14 year olds usually get overlooked at most camps only to be placed with older kids where they may get a challenge, but are still an afterthought.

SasvariWay developed this special program for these age groups so they can have an opportunity to compete with and against the best players.  Premier level players seek out the highest level of competition.  They regularly reach the finals of tournaments.  They expect more from themselves and thrive on competition while enjoying the spirit that comes with playing soccer.

Premier level players (male and female) ages 10 - 14 only are invited to this event and should have experience in playing at the premier and/or elite club level.  The goal is to create a focused and challenging training environment that will inspire and bring out the best in each participant.

The Junior PREMIER Academy curriculum focuses on developing creativity in players, using creativity to solve small-sided tactical situations, creative one versus one dribbling, using creativity to set-up and score goals, and improving overall speed of thought and speed of play.

June 11 - 14, 2012  Summer Jr. PREMIER ACADEMY

Classroom Sessions - players will participate in daily classroom sessions with video analysis of match situations being developed in daily field sessions.

Small-Sided Tactical Situations - featuring the popular SasvariWay methodology for teaching players to find creative solutions to problems faced during a match.  Emphasis is placed on players learning to read the game and find the best solutions for each situation through a decision-making process with and without the ball.

Destiny to Success Goal-Setting Program - players will focus on how to set goals and the importance of developing a plan for success.

Special Emphasis: Developing the Premier Level First Touch

At the moment a player receives the ball, the conditions around the player determine everything about the first touch.

Choosing to first receive the ball and "trapping" it without regard to the next decision means you slow the game down.  Improving speed of play means making the first touch part of the next decision.  The first decision is choosing the correct technique, weight and direction of your first touch based on your next decision.

To develop premier level players, they must be trained in situations to include decision making as part of their first touch.  All too often players are being trained in all exercises to use repetitive technique with no regard to decision making and no regard to reading pressure from a defender.

As a result we are waiting until the middle and later teenage years (15-18) to develop a players ability to read the game and use the proper first touch to speed up play.

Since 1995, SasvariWay has promoted the philosophy of functional development, guided discovery, and an environment which develops a players ability to find creative solutions to problems faced on the field.

There will not be 200-300 players at these events. For those looking for special attention, individual focus, and an atmosphere where everyone benefits equally; the Junior PREMIER ACADEMY was designed specifically for you.

The Jr. PREMIER Academy is limited to between 30 and 60 players.

"Higher level training environment for the age group that deserves to be the head of the class"

Five of the Most Common Questions about our Residential Camp

1)"What makes this program for Advanced players?"  Every player is challenged beyond the normal skill of these age groups.  The focus is on getting every player out of their comfort zone and to execute advanced skills under pressure and at a higher speed. Players must be willing to accept those challenges and be self-motivated to succeed.  The coaching staff is selected based on their ability to inspire players to exceed their own expectations.

2) "Can my son/daughter be placed with his/her friends or teammates?" With only 40 players total in attendance, everyone will have opportunities to get to see their friends.  Players can choose to room with their friends or teammates.  Once on the field, players will be grouped by ability level and are evaluated daily for proper placement.  Players will be moved accordingly in order to adjust the challenge and level of success.  It is also not unusual for players to shift groups depending on the activity.

3) "How will this camp compare to other residential camps?" The atmosphere of this academy will be unlike no other camp and the intensity of the learning environment will exceed even the best residential camps.  Each player will receive academy uniforms and a soccer ball.  Players will take part in daily classroom sessions learning the importance of goals and character.  The staff will work to make learning fun including small sided games and tournaments.  Coaches will work daily to motivate/challenge players, adjust the curriculum, and create the most inspirational atmosphere possible.

4) "How do I know if my son/daughter is an advanced player." This special week is dedicated to these age groups so they can have an opportunity to compete with and against the best players.  Advanced players in these age groups compete in Region Cup (U11-U12) and State Cup (U13 and above) with their respective club teams.  They regularly reach the finals of tournaments.  They expect more from themselves and thrive on competition while enjoying the spirit that comes with playing soccer.

5) "What about the heat, safety, and the length of the camp?" We provide tent shade during water breaks and indoor areas during classroom sessions . We take water breaks every 15-20 minutes depending on heat factor and the intensity of the exercises. Extra water is provided for those that run out. We remind kids to use sunscreen daily. The curriculum is designed to be both inspirational and entertaining with frequent changes in activities in order to keep the players focused. Coaches are trained to be motivational.

6) "What about supervision?"  Each player will be put up in a deluxe room with accommodations for 3-4 players each.  All SasvariWay academy students and staff will be housed in their own separate wing of the resort.  Players will train at Hickory point located 3 miles from the Mission Inn Resort and will be transported via Mission Inn shuttle for each session daily. .

7) "Is there internet, telephone, and movie access?" There is internet access available in each room for those that bring a laptop.  Students are encouraged to check in during the camp with their parents.  Rooms are equipped with telephones that receive calls but will not be set up for outbound calls.  SasvariWay staff will assist any students that need to contact parents or family.  Televisions are in every room but "on demand movies" are NOT available.
